Gungyah is excited to be working on re-opening the Tucker Box to be able to serve the whole Jubullum community. We are currently seeking funds to complete the installation of the commercial kitchen so it can be used for services such as:

In 2015, a Certificate II in hospitality was provided by the Aboriginal Learning Circle. A new commerical kitchen was purchased with donations from Dick Smith, Ridley Bell and an anonymous donor.
Tables, chairs and other utensils donated by Mary Allan, Head Teacher of hospitality at Wollongbar TAFE. However, the kitchen is yet to be operational as it requires electrical work, plumbing and gas fitting before it can be used. Once the kitchen is completed TAFE plans to use the Tucker Box to offer a Certificate III in Hospitality, creating employment pathways as well as opportunities to start or join catering businesses that service local events, schools and other groups. Completing the Tucker Box will also allow government agencies and not-for-profit organisations to offer regular nutrition workshops and other social services to the community. |
